Hi-flux

Coalescing, adsorbing & microbiological filter elements

Hi-Flux coalescing, adsorbing and microbiological filter elements have been developed by Metalplan to eliminate each specific form of contamination, providing maximum quality for the compressed air generated by any type of compressor, in any environment.

Contamination of compressed air takes many forms, especially water, oil and solid particles, in accordance with the international standard ISO 8573. Water comes from the humidity present in the ambient air (water vapor), and oil and solid particles have two origins: atmospheric air and the compressor itself.

Among Hi-Flux compressed air filter elements, coalescing models are the most versatile, proving capable of retaining solid contaminants as small as 0.01 microns, as well as water and oil aerosols of negligible mass, whose behavior resembles that of a gas.

The hydrophobic borosilicate nanofibers, impermeable to oil and water, are responsible for coalescence, which is the agglutination of small drops of condensate (aerosols) into larger drops, subject to the action of gravity.

The condensate precipitated at the bottom of the filter housing is drained to the outside by an automatic drain.

Appropriate condensate neutralization systems allow it to be discharged into the environment without risk of contamination.

The solid particles, in turn, are retained inside the nanofibres, causing the element to become saturated. For this reason, coalescing filters are also notable for their high efficiency in promoting "depth filtration".

In addition to the M40 (fine) and M20 (ultra-fine) grade coalescing elements, there are two other compressed air filter media in the Hi-Flux family: adsorber elements (MA grade) and microbiological elements (MB grade).

The main component of the adsorber elements is activated carbon, the basis of which is high-porosity carbon, capable of selectively retaining gases or impurities inside, with high clarifying, deodorizing, purifying and toxic and radioactive material removal power. Activated carbon is obtained from the controlled burning (800 °C to 1000 °C) of selected organic matter in a low-oxygen atmosphere.

Microbiological compressed air filter elements, on the other hand, have pores with a diameter equivalent to 20 nm (nanometers) and are suitable for retaining microorganisms as small as parvoviruses (the smallest viruses catalogued), with dimensions much smaller than SARS-CoV 2 (Covid 19), as well as bacteria of any size.

The basic membrane material of this element is hydrophilic modified polyvinylidene difluoride, which is extremely resistant to adverse physical and chemical flow conditions. All the other components of the element are equally non-toxic and can be sterilized in autoclaves or steam.

Thousands of customers, of all sizes and sectors, have proven the quality of Hi-Flux compressed air filter elements and other Metalplan products over four decades on the market.

Our network of authorized workshops and distributors has more than 300 establishments in Brazil, Latin America and the United States. Choose Metalplan and guarantee the most efficient compressed air solutions for your company.

  • Developed to eliminate each specific form of contamination, providing the highest quality compressed air generated by any type of compressor, in any environment.
  • Based on hydrophobic, three-dimensional borosilicate nanofibers, extremely efficient at retaining solid particles in depth (down to 0.01 µm).
  • Pleated filter media: filtration area FIVE TIMES greater than that of "rolled" elements, providing longer service life, lower pressure drop and reduced maintenance costs
  • Outer layer with Dri-fit, a high-tech non-woven developed by Nike, which repels and prevents contamination from re-entering the airflow
  • Exclusive end caps, which simplify element replacement and are 100% corrosion resistant
