Hi-flux

Coalescing, adsorbing & microbiological filter elements

The Hi-Flux coalescing, adsorbing, and microbiological filter elements were developed by Metalplan to eliminate every specific form of contamination, providing maximum air quality generated by any type of compressor in any environment.

Compressed air contamination takes various forms, with particular emphasis on water, oil, and solid particles, according to the international standard ISO 8573. Water comes from the humidity present in the ambient air (water vapor), while oil and solid particles have two sources: atmospheric air and the compressor itself.

Among the Hi-Flux compressed air filter elements, coalescing models are the most versatile, capable of retaining solid contaminants as small as 0.01 micron, as well as water and oil aerosols with minimal mass, whose behavior resembles that of a gas.

Hydrophobic borosilicate nanofibers, impermeable to oil and water, are responsible for coalescence, which is the aggregation of small condensate droplets (aerosols) into larger droplets, subject to gravity action.

The condensate precipitated at the bottom of the filter housing is drained to the exterior by an automatic drain. Appropriate condensate neutralization systems allow its disposal into the environment without risk of contamination.

Solid particles, on the other hand, are trapped inside the nanofibers, causing element saturation. For this reason, coalescing filters are also notable for their high efficiency in promoting "depth filtration."

In addition to the coalescing elements M40 (fine) and M20 (ultrafine), there are two more compressed air filter media in the Hi-Flux family: the adsorbing elements (grade MA) and microbiological elements (grade MB).

The main component of the adsorbing elements is activated carbon, whose base is highly porous carbon capable of selectively retaining gases or impurities inside it, with high clarification, deodorization, purification, and removal of toxic and radioactive materials. Activated carbon is obtained from the controlled burning (800°C to 1000°C) of selected organic matter in an atmosphere with low oxygen content.

The microbiological compressed air filter elements, on the other hand, have pores with a diameter equivalent to 20 nm (nanometers) and are designed to retain microorganisms as tiny as parvoviruses (the smallest cataloged viruses), with dimensions much smaller than SARS-CoV-2 (Covid 19), as well as bacteria of any size.

The basic material of the membrane of this element is modified hydrophilic polyvinylidene difluoride, extremely resistant to adverse physical and chemical flow conditions. All other components of the element are equally non-toxic and allow for sterilization in autoclaves or steam.

Thousands of customers of all sizes and sectors in more than 20 countries attest to the quality of Hi-Flux compressed air filter elements and other Metalplan products.

  • Developed to eliminate each specific form of contamination, providing maximum air quality generated by any type of compressor, in any environment
  • Based on hydrophobic and three-dimensional borosilicate nanofibers, highly efficient in depth retention of solid particles (up to 0.01 µm)
  • Pleated filter medium: FIVE TIMES larger filtration area compared to "wrapped" elements, providing longer service life, lower pressure drop, and reduced maintenance costs
  • External layer with Dri-fit, a high-tech non-woven fabric developed by Nike, which repels and prevents contamination reentry into the airflow
  • Exclusive end caps, simplifying element replacement and 100% corrosion resistant
